My name is Sílvia Ruiz Babot and I am a language & communication professional based in Barcelona. After I graduated in Translation and Interpreting (German, English, Spanish and Catalan) in 2005, I studied Journalism and several communication courses to nurture my other passion ―writing!
Over the last 15 years I have split up my language devotion into translation (I worked both in translation agencies and as a freelancer) and communication (4 years as a copywriter and content manager in the private industry). On top of this, I was lucky enough to be employed as an adjunct lecturer of two of Europe’s most reputed universities: the Ruprecht-Karls University of Heidelberg (Germany), where I taught translation courses and CAT-Tools for 3 years, and the Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona), where I teach since 2015.
Regarding my personal life, I have lived and worked in several cities (Vienna, Berlin, Heidelberg, Mannheim, Barcelona and Madrid) for more than 5 years, an experience that has very positively shaped both my personality and my working methodology. I have an insatiable curiosity for new areas of expertise (astronomy!) and an endless working capacity for projects I pour my heart into.
If you wish to know a little bit more about myself, check me out on LinkedIn, on the APTIC's website (the Catalan Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters) or simply write to me!
